Do Affirmations Really Work?
Spoiler alert, they do. In fact, that is one of the driving forces behind the creation of Favored Whispers. Affirmations – positive statements - when practiced daily, can overcome negative thoughts when repeated often. It’s a way to “retrain” your brain and create new habits.
But what if I don’t feel that way? You may be skeptical at first and not feel that way, but the fake it till you make mentality is a good way to start. Just like physical exercise, you just need to get started, keep at it and eventually you will see the results. Is it immediate? No, but it is rewarding and can make your whole outlook on life change in ways you never thought. You will start treating yourself and others with more kindness in the process.
Start with choosing a repetitive negative thought that runs through your mind and search for an affirmation to counteract it. Examples include:

Self-affirmation studies by researchers have consistently shown positive changes in your brain with increased activity in key regions including self-processing and valuation. Affirmations have also been used in therapy to overcome depression, anxiety, self-esteem, fear and a multitude of other conditions.
